THE "IRON LADIES"
We have a very clear picture in our minds of the steelworking sector in which all of us work: surrounded by dust, calamine and grease ... nobody or perhaps few would think that a member of the fairer sex is capable of adroitly moving around in such an environment. Well, don't go by appearances!
Among its customers Schnell has a few women who wanted to tell us about their experience as entrepreneurs and their experience with Schnell. Aleksandra Pangerc, Laurence Caumes and the sisters Abelina and Rosa Manso.
Aleksandra Pangerc runs Betonfer, a bar machining centre set up in the province of Friuli in 1990 as a "small-small enterprise" and which has grown so much in recent years that in 2002 it achieved a turnover of almost Euro 3 million.
According to Aleksandra: "You are born a businessman ... or a businesswoman. A businesswoman, however, must prove every day that she can cope with the situation. You always run the risk of misunderstandings, because people do not realise that it is you they have to deal with, but then you enjoy the satisfaction of surprise and the trust the customers and suppliers place in you once they get to know you".
- What made you choose Schnell?
Undoubtedly, apart from my satisfaction with the two machines I have installed, a PRIMA and a BARWISER that both operate faultlessly, I think I can safely say that as a customer I have found great satisfaction in the contact I've had with your staff , their kindness, correctness and expertise. For example, I have a very clear recollection of the expertise of one of your technicians.
Laurence Caumes together with her father runs the Societé Caumes at Vandergues in the south of France. She is an expert in the sector and has in-depth knowledge of the technical qualities of the machines as she also works in direct contact with production.
Talking about her work, she says:"For me, being a businesswomen means always being innovative and abreast of our customers' requirements".
- And how has Schnell helped you achieve this objective?
"I'll give you an example: I have hands-on experience with your IDEA assembly machine: I've found it an extremely innovative machine because it completely changes the concept of cage machining, making it easy and highly productive".
- What innovations have you found in our products?
The electrical power supply is what convinced me most. The electrical servomotor makes the machining operation more economical and a lot more accurate compared to a machining operation carried out with hydraulically-operated machines. This is also why I decided to turn to Schnell for other machines as well.
The sisters Abelina and Rosa Manso have been running their machining centre at Guipuzcoa in the Basque region of Spain for over ten years...
Can you give us a positive and a negative aspect of your work ?
The negative aspect is that it has always been a challenge for us, a challenge that my sister and I have won with pride, and this is certainly the most positive side.
Wechose Schnell, and continue to do so, because we wanted to boost productivity and modernise our company's image. The building sector is often a traditional sector. It is precisely thanks to enterprises like ours and also thanks to the Schnell machines that these traditional ways of working will be overcome.
What machines did you buy for this modernisation ?
We bought machines such as Idea, Speedy Bat, Coil18 El which have made the whole process a lot more efficient. In this sense, using your management software, Graphico-Optimo, has carried great weight , thanks to which machining has become much easier and controllable.
