SERVO-MOTOR: A COST-SAVING JEWEL
The huge family of metal processing machines for reinforced concrete includes two macro-categories: machinery fitted with oleodynamic systems and machinery fitted with electrical servo-motors.
Let's take a closer look.
An oleodynamic system is essentially made up of three parts: a conventional electric motor, an hydraulic pump and an hydraulic circuit.
A servo-motor system is essentially made up of a brushless motor and a control module.
The motor is built around permanent magnets that, unlike traditional (asynchronous) motors, is capable of developing about three times more power at comparable dimensions. The control module contains the necessary electronics for complete control of the motor. Electrical servo-motor technology was initially applied in military fields and then moved into robotics (where it today "rules the roost"), machine tools and, more recently, aeronautics - demonstrating absolute maturity and reliability.
Both types of system have advantages and disadvantages, such as:
OLEODYNAMIC SYSTEM
Advantages
Reliability
High power
Disadvantages
High consumption
High fixed and operating costs
Noise
High negative environmental impact
ELECTRICAL DRIVE SYSTEM
Advantages
Reliability
Constructional simplicity and consequent low maintenance costs
High precision
Low noise
Very low electricity consumption
Disadvantages
Lower output
Electrical servo-motors are the heart of our machines. SCHNELL was the first company in the sector to believe in this new technology and its major advantages - with applications as early as 1989.
These jewels operate on our machines in a reliable, precise, fast and quiet manner, with respect for environment and - especially - major savings in time and money.
Electrical servo-motors have by now become even faster: in just two seconds, a bracketing machine with latest generation servo-motors can produce a bracket with five bends and a total length of one metre. Moreover, new digital systems ensure greater accuracy over control of processed material and in addition the possibility of being programmed very simply - and in the near future even remotely. This means that if necessary, our technicians will be able to rest the parameters of motors fitted to Schnell machines all over the world: in Italy as elsewhere. All this will reduce downtimes and speed up production.
Schnell has always dedicated major attention to another aspect: environmental awareness. Electrical drive system, first and foremost, avoid periodical discharge of high volumes of hydraulic oil that otherwise involve complicated and expensive disposal processes. During processing, hydraulic machinery also discharge a great deal of oil that the penetrates into the ground. This demands oil collections systems, with evident additional costs. With the new digital servo-motor digital, Schnell machinery also tackles a new challenge: energy saving. Lower power consumption means lower environmental costs to produce it though, for example, combustion of hydrocarbons, ad thus a cleaner atmosphere.
Yet energy saving also directly involves the interests of our clients through savings in operating costs.
Numerous in-field tests show any Schnell machine equipped with a servo-motor controlled by digital drives consumes in stand-by (machine on but not processing) no more than 2 or 3 ordinary light bulbs!! This means that during the downtimes typical of any normal working day (machine programming, coil change, loading/unloading of materials…) our machines consume practically nothing. This is a major contribution to cutting operating costs.
As regards consumption in processing stages, we have detected that the new digital systems ensure a further reduction compared with their analog predecessors. Whoever purchases a Schnell machine makes a safe investment and a competitive choice in the metal processing market and at the same time as cutting costs also implements that environmental awareness by now essential for leading companies. more... FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OPTIBAT AND EURA TO THE NEW FRONTIERS OF BARWISER:
The second part in a series of articles dedicated to "element processing"
The previous issue discussed the difference between “position” and “element” processing.
Briefly, "position processing" involves sets of identical bars while "element processing" usually concerns sets of different bars need to create a beam, pillar or other constructional structure.
An “element” is thus an “assembly kit” of bars (straight or shaped) used to make up a given armature. It is evident that the reality of building sites requires armatures involving identical and diversified bars. It is easy to understand that cutting and eventually bending identical bars is much simpler than cutt more... Cintreuse |

“THE AUTOMATED FACTORY”
Schnell will present at SAIE a major leap into the future
The Bologna Exhibition Centre 16th-20th October 2002 will be transformed – for the SAIE event, the International Exhibition of Building Industry Industrialisation – into an enormous Forum dedicated to the construction world.
This year as never before, professionals in processing steel for reinforced concrete absolutely must visit the Schnell stand - since the solutions on display are the most innovative in the last 10 years and radically change the production system of future steel processing centres.
The innovations that Schnell will premiere during the exhibition can be put into three more... Cintreuse |

| ConcreWall CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM: BEHIND THE WALL, SPEED AND STRENGTH
The idea is that the panel completed with shotcrete becomes the structural element of the construction. The profile of the polystyrene panel and the vertical wires of the mesh mats form micro-piles of reinforced concrete, distributing the weight of the structure around the entire perimeter. more...
